Thomas Newman “Any Other Name”

I shall cry you a river
Of salt, bone and sorrow
Be here for today
Long gone by tomorrow
A memory to have and hold
And if I may be quite so bold
I wish to be remembered for a legacy foretold
The kind that need not ever beg for borrow

My heart and soul will be in best of health
When that day comes
Provided there is just one reason for this river wild to run
Matters not the season
For I illustrate all four
Winter
Spring
Summer
Fall
All forms that I adore
Found the light in shadowscapes
Of hallowed faith procured
Found myself a cause worthy of dying for

All of me
There is to give
Through such, I live forever
Whether I be glancing life or passing through the never
Should I break my flesh like bread
Then I can feed a multitude in retrospect
Should I bleed each tear I kept
Then finally the world will see I’m far from self-possessed
All of me
Not one thing less
Through such, I give forever

My heart and soul will be in best of health
When that day comes
Provided every reason for this river wild to run
Each time I come undone
I fall with grace away from seams
To a timeless space where I facilitate my untamed dreams

Here I am a lion brave
No narrowed eyes for shallow graves
Of hallowed faith procured
Since I named changeless cause worth dying for
Found the light in shadowscapes
And braided it to shallow rays
Heretofore of length, width, breadth
Of life and death
No imitation
Keen be the persuasion of a heart and soul in kind
Not a sweet sensation left behind

When that day arrives
I shall confide upon the raven
To keep those blessèd safe from harm
Through bitter gale
Bid hail of calm
To see the sleepy flowers charmed
Would keenly chance ten thousand arms
Would freely bleed from open palms
To sow the seeds of flourish
For here my lionheart is dressed of courage
Breathless brave
Here my soul need never be a million miles away

Crying you a river wild
From here until my dying day
Leave memory to have and hold
And if I may be quite so bold
I wish to be remembered for a legacy foretold
The kind to reap the sweetest of tomorrows
