Bing Crosby “Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams”

should someone make you happy
make them happier than you
if only to provide yourself
with something to aspire to
the gift of joy
is ours to give
should never feel exclusive
when just a smile can justify the one thing therapeutic
improve on the acoustics
as they echo back in kind
the whispers of considerate design

should someone draw a line
along the sand between your hearts
then wait for low tide
kindly to advance
listen for unique beat
as it sweeps in fleet
beneath your feet
and maybe leave a thing or three completely down to chance

grown-up children love to dance
while stretched across the morning’s glance
circumstances notwithstanding
disembark to have a hand in
helping fellow man to see
the bark of every standing tree

the pathway tween
each masterpiece
leads deep into the vale
tolling not all those who seek its trail
even when we’re feeling frail
the air we breathe there speaks of keen prevail
amidst the hail and gale
to dress some way more leisured theme

thence deflect the pressure steam
for betterment
to lend esteem
to every dream
within a dream
we dream when seen clean through
in evergreen
each season
seen anew

should someone see such measures deemed essential to fresh bloom
then let them weave the centre seam
and meet them at their ever destined view
for skimming pebbles pleasures best for two
thus should someone make you happy
make them happier than you
and step by step
we’re on the path resumed
attuned to new acoustics
as they echo back in kind
the whispers of regenerate design
for such can be the making of mankind
leaping blind
if only to aspire to breathe
in kind
living lives
not leaving them behind
