Thomas Newman “Arose”
I stand with arms outstretched
Before a canyon of untold expanse
Overseer of something grandiose denoting native lands
This place I call home
For ’tis the only one I know
Sometimes I to
Sometimes I fro
Sometimes fierce winds doth come and go
But ever steady breeze doth blow
All heretofore above, below
Doth verily consume me
Mine eyes toil not to wellaway
Remain in swoopstake come what may
Doth not recline or shy away
Ifsoever sight exudes no view
Somewhither neither here nor there
Howbeit, whencesoever no puzzlement doth spare
For tis everywhere
More therewithal
Doth recognize mine footfall
I stand with arms outstretched
Straight and tall as woe befalls
Doth cast mine wide eyes whitherward
A place where calm in accent calls
Tis here I watch and here I weep and here I feel for one and all
Learned how to stand whereon to fall
Meseems I ne’er fall at all
For the heaviest hearts in light hands are caught
Thus, I divorce from sordid thought
Neglect all flawed life lessons taught
Athwart from composition fraught
Soothfast as mine grief abates
Mine eyes toil not to wellaway
Remain in swoopstake come what may
Doth not recline or shy away
For sight exudes idyllic view
Somewhither anon both here and there
Whencesoever puissant oath declare
For blindmost faith be everywhere
More therewithal
Doth recognize mine mercy call
I stand bravemost with arms outstretched
Yet, ne’er doth I graze or fall
Meseems I ne’er fell at all
Nowise hath I remembrance
With widest eyes no fault be mendless
No fellow-feeling rendered senseless
No need for lackaday consensus
For all ends hath long since dovetailed
This place I now call mine home
Heretofore the one amain home ever hath I known
