Phaeleh “Red Light Green Light”

paint the canvas
just precisely as you wish
if there ever was a time
to be inspired
then this is it
take a long hard look
you’ll see the mirror doesn’t lie
no need to read between the lines
to find the true meaning of life
you’ll see the woods
through all the trees
that paint a pathway
stained in leaves

if only halfway
you believe
enough to try

i die
you die
we all fall down together
underlined by violent changes in the weather
i rise
you rise
we all get high together
when we never once say never
to the severance of bind

inclined remembrance of light
amidst the temperance of sight
that frames our reference to slight
the kind of resonance we strive
a deeper meaning
to describe
to keep us feeling
through the night

if only halfway
we believe
enough to try

paint the canvas
just precisely as you wish
for if there ever was a time
for hell and leather
this is it
time is nigh
to prize the candelabra’s flickered burn
and feel the harboured fire within return

it’s our turn
to seek the reason
once upon a time
believed in
for as long as we are breathing
there’s desire
for as long as there are embers interweaving
there’s a fire

random acts of kindness
are a taffy cure for blindness
as they satisfy the kiln
from deep inside us
need not stratify
deceive us
or divide us
the battlefield
is track and field
to athletes of the soul
love actually enraptures
whence emphatically we glow
stand together
arm in arm
go toe to toe
to make it so
that we can weave
that we can flow
that seeds we sow
can breathe and grow
to see the woods
through all the trees
to paint a pathway
stained in leaves

if only halfway
we are seen
enough to try
