Marianne Faithfull “Tomorrow’s Calling”

Make tomorrow today
Shed all sorrows away
Beg to borrow a clue
To the making of you
Learn to leave fate to chance
Break the curfew and dance
Seems absurd to remain
In remand of the dark
Make tomorrow today
Yesterday a fresh start
Play awakening part
In the making of you

See the sun kiss the moon
Feel the sting of lips true
Every filament blushed
By the touch of renew
Whence darkening
Hearken to ten gun salute
In equivalent flourish
Seek courage to bloom
With cacophony muted
Reclaim the lost truth
Bid adieu to falsehood
Be the one to come good
For all sufferance despite
It’s a wonderful life
Seems a crime to die twice
To dispute this

Make tomorrow arise
Pay the ransom most handsome to dream
Scale extravagant heights
Brave the random of fathomless deep
Ward the faith
To decisively leap
Fall awake
To the science of sleep
Make tomorrow the day
That today came to be
Shed all sorrows away
Yesterdays to bequeath
Fame renaissance so great
Sparring angels embrace
Make tomorrow the day
To break through
Futile chains
In no way
Made for you
As you bleed
Feel the sting of lips true
Could indeed prove
The making of you
