I know a thing or two about recovery
Of trading in the old me for another me
The voyage one takes to greatest rediscovery
When faced with strife contrived to illustrate a life destabilized
And take a shine to luxury

To master our own puppetry
Untangling our strings
As we were not supplied with wings to simply dangle
Shambling through pre-production
Angling for reconstruction
Handling our business
With ambition lifting gifted function
Lived-in we may be
But need not labour on assumption
We are fated to narrate a mazy tangle

I know a thing or two about the voices in my head
The choice where I decline to pay great mind to the suggestion that the quest is geometric to the end
Too late in the day to make pretend I lend consent to fate
To see me dress lament upon descent
Intent on setting precedent for eloquence self-evident when relevant to essence better spent

I was seventeen when I first dreamt of reinvention
Identity was hesitant at best
That was then
And this is now
High time to envisage how to give a more preeminent address
Essentially belief is long-term memory redeemed
The extrasensory unsheathe of virtuous blade
Only when we bleed
Can we be clearly seen to breathe
And credence thereby steeps the breeze
To turn the page

I know a thing or two of light and day
Renewing right of way
To do or die entitled either way
Reliance placed a smile unto my wizened face
As I remained the same way facing
Famed in pride of place
I know a thing or two of why we shy away from diamond trade
On slightest trace of unsustained devout
Yet still I stand here unafraid
Of death’s caress and tired tirade
To side with fate when destiny abounds
I know a thing or two of grounds
To leap profoundly
Breach the boundary
Sleeping soundly
Whereby dreams be found
I know a thing or two of such about

I know a thing or two about recovery
Of trading in the old me for another me
The voyage one takes to greatest rediscovery
When faced with strife contrived to illustrate a life destabilized
And take a shine to luxury
