Listen to The Whispering Lotus by Richard Charles Stevens

Listen to Throttle Up by Dynatron

Deep in the swamp
Stands a solitary lotus
Come here when my head is throbbing
Eyes are losing focus
No one knows the spot because it changes every time
Places onus only on the sight it realigns
Precious like a metal
Wearing petals dressed in Oleander white
Tickled pink to tips
With lips that glisten
Blissfully retracting light
Listen in intently and it whispers its delight
For endless day and everlasting night

Colloquially known as water lily to the many
Last seen singing in Beijing
And busking in New Delhi
Verily it plies its trade
Momentarily it fades
At least until a namesake takes its place
Should you choose to chase your dreams
Then it will set becoming scene
With evergreen serene its running theme

Where butterflies mid-shutter flutter lashes at the bees
Tall green grass is passionate when lapping at the trees
Fallen autumn leaves are then enraptured by the breeze
And all the while the lotus simply breathes
Lives its easy life of simple peace
Bloody minded in belief that all which glitters lies beneath
Maybe this is why white lilies bleed
Would it be forbidden
Deemed unreasonable to feed
Could it be the Lotus knows of intravenous means
To set a scene with evergreen serene its running theme

Deep in the swamp
Stands a solitary lotus
Come here when my head is throbbing
Eyes are losing focus
No one knows the spot because it changes every time
Places onus only on the sight it realigns
Precious like a metal
Wearing petals dressed in Oleander white
Tickled pink to tips
With lips that glisten
Blissfully refracting light
Listen most intently as its whispers are of sun and moon’s design
Of endless days and everlasting nights
