Clinging to the severed air
Each riddled breath a little death;
Whoever dared before me tread
Appeared to have no better fared.
The dead of night
Bled bare the sky—
And there was I
No slight declared;
Yet, felt aware precisely where
The sands of Pharaoh wed to tide.

Had my visage undressed mirage,
Then, by and large, my weathered mast
Would never pass the eye of storm;
Less tethered to unfettered form.
Callous winds forewarned fierce bluster;
Still my sight denied no lustre—
Mustered every ounce of flounce
Announced myself the house conductor.

In luminescent hieroglyphs
The monoliths were painted;
My narrowed lids then widened
Prized of ancients reacquainted.
The tainted heart beneath my breast
Embosomed pleasure—Better yet,
Felt treasured in its rusted cage
Fair of hue and runed of mage.

.
The sage advice of elders felled
Prepared me well to live to tell
The riddled breaths of little deaths
From cleft address
Cursed worth expelled.
The dead of night
Bled bare the sky—
And there was I
Of fair delight declared;
Felt aware precisely where
The sands of Pharaoh wed to tide.
Clinging to caress of Eye of Nemes—

.
Eyes of the heretic
Elegant visage
Steadfast to her heritage
Of dedicated heart
The great queen of an infantry great many thousand large
A nation famed to venerate her charge
.
Leading from the front with blunt-edged cudgel seldom ever called to arms
Most would come undone on introduction to her devastating charm
Both resolute and calm
Her black lace threaded through each weathered psalm
To placate she clenched her palm
Bled destinies from fate disarmed
Not a solitary drop be spilled
Against her will forearmed
For such was neither in her nature or ornate command
The jewels within headdress attested exaltation uncontested
Gilded armour double-breasted
Harbouring great power vested
Never one time bested or invested to alarm
For such was her perpetual allegiance to lead march
.
Her name was framed in hieroglyph
Engraved in ancient monolith
Queen of Egypt Nefertiti
Unsigned of complacent treaty
Few possessed her fervour grace or celebrated beauty
Even less dared question place or duty to the crown
So regal was her majesty
So great was her renown
So eloquent in amnesty
No teardrops stained the ground
Custodian to every grain of sand that time and space endowed
Not a single sullen face in crowd
.
Born of sun god
Wed to moon
She shed each tear in blessèd rune
Her lover’s death had left her blind
Her left eye dressed the crest of blight
Her vesture wept the day she died
Requested that in time she reawaken
Requested that in time she reawaken
.
Preserved within sarcophagus in perfumed linen shroud
Custodian to every grain of sand her grace endowed
So infinite her majesty
So elegant her crown
That not a solitary teardrop ever stain the ground
.
Her name was framed in hieroglyph
Engraved in ancient monolith
Queen of Egypt Nefertiti
Soon to be redeemed to lead great march
Black lace threaded through the braid of ever treasured psalm

“Felt treasured in its rusted cage”, I love this.
This song is perfection. I love Egypt and Arabic music so the combination here should make the pyramids in their big-headed boldness feel nervous 😄
I was channeling Treasures of The Pharaohs for this one (first time ever channelling an eighties board game) 😄
Decided to fuse Eye of Nemes to this and lead the listener into Nefertiti’s inner sanctum for the second wave build. So glad the Gods are happy
80s channelling led to pleasing the Egyptian gods 😁
I’m glad as the Sphinx was looking at me funny 😁
Ooh, the looks he gave me at the Sound and Light show in 1991. I hear ya!!
