Restless Native may initially appear downbeat in tone. However, its sole aim is to cast a light for anyone in a dark place in their own lives. In a sense, I created Restless Native to challenge the part of our brains that voices erratic thought.

Maybe
.
Maybe
.
Maybe this world is not for me
Maybe life just got away from me due to complacency
Maybe it preferred to flee than see me act disgracefully
Maybe destiny would wait
Had fate not been foreseen
.
Maybe it was all a fever dream
Maybe I should follow creek upstream
Head on past the cedar tree
Proceed to deeper greens
Offer active senses their vacation leave
.
Too late in the day to gaze on vacantly
Tally up expenses that the general consensus states is well within its rightful place to claim from me
(Claim from me)
Show profound determination
Stick around for termination
Nothing left to lose but reservation fee
.
Maybe I’m alone now all the messengers have flown away
Maybe I’m a stowaway
Stone’s throw away from seen
Maybe slow decay will offer bonus pay at donor age
Name king’s ransom
Pay a handsome fee
.
Maybe
Maybe
.
Too late in the day to change a game I played for keeps
Too much left to say to fade away
Await repeat
My heart would sooner face defeat
Than rue the day its rate decreased
Maybe I can change the fate decreed
.
Maybe simple flowers bat their lashes not to flatter and deceive
.
Each a signal tower to the wistful hour of destiny perceived
.
Jog my memory about the best of me predestined me
Seek from death longevity bequeathed
Seek from death longevity bequeathed
(Maybe)
(Maybe)
.
Maybe I’m oblivious
Too frivolous
Naïve
But I foresee due diligence in those who dare to dream
(Maybe)
(Maybe)
.
Maybe it’s too early for engraving names on plaques
Maybe there are centuries in waiting to trace back
Maybe they’ll eventually gain faithful re-enaction
Maybe what is meant to be could aim at gaining traction
.
Could this prove the bastion to mind in brisk decline
Should I move this mountain to peruse the river blind
Precious left to lose means only precious things remaining
Maybe the forgiven will oblige
(Maybe)
.
Maybe I can fly
Essentially
And maybe this is why my nightly ventures now make sense to me
(Maybe)
Maybe I live dreams within these very journal pages
Maybe this will prove my greatest legacy
(Maybe)
.
Maybe it was all a fever dream
(Maybe)
Maybe I should follow creek upstream
(Maybe)
Head on past the cedar tree
Proceed to deeper greens
(Maybe)
Offer active senses their vacation leave

Too late in the day to gaze on vacantly
Tally up expenses that the general consensus states is well within its rightful place to claim from me
.
Through my art these charcoal lungs still breathe
To my soul a roll call
To my soulful heart a beat
Placing bids on all who breathe the noble air of fever dream
Placing dibs on seat beneath the celebrated cedar tree
Facing fate
Rejuvenating destiny
Far too much ado to lose the best of me
Facing fate
Rejuvenating destiny
Far too much ado to lose the best of me
.

“Far too much ado to lose the best of me”
That sums it up precisely. We all have those moments when our irrational, false thinking, catastrophising brain bombards our sanity with intrusive often destructive thoughts. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to stop and think “maybe” within the light again.
