To Mouse. For being the truest, kindest friend I could ever have dreamed through thick, thin and every last fiber in-between.

I see your true colours
A rainbow of such
Every shade you parade
Is a bright summer day
There are blues
There are greens
Quite the view in-between
When it all gets too much
Breathe anew for you’re seen
And feel like the queen that you are
For the sun always shines in your eyes and comprises a truly unbreakable beam
Dusted with a stream of lucky stars

Can prove hard to trust ourselves
When all we see are scars
Every one denotes a pain
A hopeful dream that got away
Sometimes cold night has to pass
Before we see the light of day
Proceed and claim our right of way
Far more easy it seems to believe we’re too weak
When the strength we possess need not bellow to speak
Mellow and meek we may be by complexion
But that doesn’t mean we don’t warrant a mention
Indeed, gentle hearts have the optimum suspension
For they relieve the tension every time they gently weep
Thus, achieve protection from the shadows set to creep
There will always be a light
Even on the blackest nights
There will always be an act of kindness to delight in
Every clap of distant thunder sets the scene for lightning
This is where we get to dignifying
Holding our heads high
The race was run and we survived
May feel spun and sleep deprived
But this just means we’re feeling
Destinies collide when we are brave enough revealing
That everything is not quite so alright
It’s okay confiding that we’re deep in the abyss
It’s okay to close our eyes and leap into the steeps of mist
It’s okay to trust that you will not be dashed on rocks
When au fait with blindest faith our saving grace then underprops
Those who love bereft of mission pull out all the stops
When it appears the most severe a drop
Tough love is a rough trade
Call its bluff
For this is masquerade for saying what you need not hear but what I want to say
Gentle hearts will find a way to lend entire weight to cause
Breach each rising tidal wave and stride away from wasteful pained remorse
Remember you’re the kind of soul worth dying for
And yours the kind of life well worth surviving for

I see your true colours
A rainbow of such
Every shade you parade
Is defiant and brave
There are blues
There are greens
You exist in-between
When it all gets too much
Just remember you’re never once any less than seen
And feel like the queen that you are
For the truth always shines in your eyes and comprises a truly irradiant beam
Dusted with a stream of lucky stars
Each one a brace of open arms
To see this quasar back where it belongs
No more defeated
To see the rainbow of revival in the sweetest throng
I see your true colours
Precisely where they have been all along

  1. I’m crying, this means so much to me right now Lion, thank you so much from the depths of my heart. And that’s one of my favourite Madonna songs, the words and melody are beautiful. For the last 3 years we’ve given each other strength and long may it continue. And may crossing the boundaries of humour continue too!
