…Not a solitary word need be spoken
In the moment
He and She could have been anywhere
And it would barely matter
For they still would have chosen
The same words unspoken
To gather all the kisses blown, in kind…

Words seemed superfluous
For two who disinclined from saying anything to later be forgotten
Silence bid the roses blossom
This is when they were most vocal
Only one point focal
For their noble eyes had softened

Often they had dreamed of such degrees of animation
The kind that seep like lichen through the cracks between the pavement
To coexist at peace without the need for commentary
Comfortable the silence that encouraged quiet voluntary
They could speak for hours on end and come away with less
Than one heartbeat of memoir coalesced

Forever never felt enough
To find a kiss so true
And over time
Through mistrust groomed
Their lips had turned pale blue
Hurting for the curtailed due
That teetered out of reach
Aching for the growth of bones between which drape of flowers wreathed
Forever never felt too long
To hold onto belief
That one fine day, fresh bloom would come of every sprouted seed

No doubt about it
Their essence was freed
Dearly declared of the fair air they breathed
Even if the world no longer spun upon its axis
They could paint a fresh scene on its ceaseless, frameless canvas
Couplets and stanzas
Superfluous hereafter
For the silence steeped excursion
To the only piece to master
