Listen to A Shred Of The Past by Monolism

In the whisper of a kiss
I learned the secret of her lips
The kind designed not to sink ships
But see them sail
Through rain
Through sleet
Through hail
Regaled with tales of the abyss
Whereby the only thing amiss
Was our curtail
.
In the whisper of a kiss
I learned the secret of her lips
The kind designed not to sink ships
But see them sail
Through rain
Through sleet
Through hail
Regaled with tales of the abyss
Whereby the only thing amiss
Was our curtail
.
Pale blue were my lips
Long before they were blushed
And only in dream
Did my cheeks become flushed
Weaned off the teat
Long defeated in love
I retreated my heart
For its beat was unrushed
Punctured and sputtering
Nothing free to gush
Had been some time since it had last been touched
.
Felt heedless to trust an emotion
That most of us deem as a drop in the ocean
Had seemed more productive concocting a potion
Though nothing was quite as it seemed
For She had been chosen
To slow heel to toe
At the wuthering heights of my dreams
Proceed to lead dance
Each beat of my heart felt esteemed to see dart through the breeze that she calmed as she armed my belief in a part of me charmed now to bleed
.
In the whisper of a kiss
I learned the secret of her lips
The kind designed not to sink ships
But see them sail

Through sleet

Whereby the only thing amiss

There was light
Unlike any I had seen
There was darkness
Yet remarkably I felt halfway serene
As I ventured down the pathway
Keen to part ways with the grieving
That had seen my weary heart ache break and bleed
.
In the fast lane
There was She
And I could barely cease to hydroplane
For She seemed markedly content
Made no attempt to mask the pain
Wept unto the dry terrain
To cultivate the seeds of faith
Beneath each wave of tidal rain released
Through gruelling winters masqueraded
Jaded not whence daylight faded
Passing seasons merely phases
Stepping stones to better places
Set in stone poetic tone and present no known airs and graces
.

In the whisper of a kiss
I learned the secret of eclipse
The kind designed not to dismiss
But interweave
It was then
My parted lips declared the air as clean to breathe
It was there
I felt prepared to share a dream
For ne’er had I foreseen a scene as fair as this
And a lifetime for one kiss
Seemed fair to me
.
A lifetime for one kiss
Seemed fair to me
.
