Listen to I Just (Died In Your Arms) by Cutting Crew

a ghostly apparition
filled me up with superstition
while my heart was recommissioned
to the night
.
on the long road to perdition
i made kindly acquisition
now i stand in recognition
of the light
.
stand in recognition
of the light
.
a ghostly apparition
glanced across my private chamber
deliberate this stranger
of the shadows long estranged
my tired eyes acclimatized
to find reliant range
and as these bridges burned
i turned the page
.
there were eyes without a face
yet my fingertips bid trace
every contour of a dream that fiendish nightmares chased away
with one final sweet embrace
i lifted veil of rotted lace
breathed within the air of change
twas then the winter came apace
.
a ghostly apparition
filled me up with superstition
while my heart was recommissioned
to the night
on the long road to perdition
i made kindly acquisition
now i stand in recognition
of the light
.
for its kindly proposition repositioned my delight
as it reached into my fissure
not one time didst i affright
and as my bleeding quickened
my blood thickened to defy
the kind of spill that sickened stricken eyes
.
the chill of loss on frozen lakes
appeared to lift
as did the mist
in midst of one permissive kiss goodnight
.
a river red to quench my thirst
undress this curse
all debts incurred
and bless the worth of many tens of centuries confiding
.
blight had torn foresight asunder
tied the binds of scorn and plunder
blinded eyes once wide with wonder
left them undefined
(left them undefined)
.
hiding and seeking
relied on me peeking
the silence was speaking
thereafter retreating
for deep in the heart of my darkness
was harnessed the unvarnished truth in my keeping
.
a ghostly apparition
filled me up with superstition
while my heart was recommissioned
to the night
on the long road to perdition
i made kindly acquisition
now i stand in recognition
of the light
.
for its kindly proposition repositioned my delight
as it reached into my fissure
not one time didst i affright
and as the bleeding quickened
my blood thickened to defy
the kind of spill that sickened stricken eyes
.
walked through the valley of the shadow of death
my cuirass was flayed and my armour well cleft
yet scars appeared to be the dearest relics i had kept
(scars appeared to be the dearest relics i had kept)
.
the angels wept
their curdled tears
while i redressed resurgent years
and deep within internal gears
each beat sincere caressed
.
the chill of loss on frozen lakes
appeared to lift
as did the mist
in midst of one permissive kiss goodnight
.
my glass heart then threatened to burst through my chest
each artery reddened in thirst to digress
from the curse that averted my eyes from that blessed
with the faith of the blind
and inclined to molest
.
a long wavering mind
came to ease
on my knees
as my creaking bones spoke
of the ghost in the tree
known to weep through its bark
leave an enduring mark
reassuring the beat
of a heart at half mast
.
twas unlike any other dream within a dream declared to me
had cared to dream
had dared to dream
yet never one time
shared the dream
had seen a thousand smiles
yet never one halfway as fair to me
could scarce believe my eyes as i prepared to take unsparing leap
.
