Knife Edge (The Tempest Suite)

Listen to Knife Edge by Richard Charles Stevens (The Tempest Suite)

(Cut to the chase)
.
At pinnacle a river wild runs through
My inner child
A smile resumes
Eyes open wide
Baptised unto the ocean tide
Defined
.
At pinnacle a river wild runs through
My inner child
A smile resumes
Eyes open wide
Baptised unto the ocean tide
Defined anew
.
I cut to the chase
At a gluttonous pace
For the succulent taste
Was divine

On knife edge
I hereby pledge allegiance to the cause
And should I fall to my death
Then no grievance shall retort

(Divine)
.
All minor inconvenience aside
See no good reason to resign
To intermediate design
Each time the tide falls
With frightful sense of dejà vu
The tête-à-tête of blasé view
A voice which grates
To illustrate alarm
Then carve a pathway through
.
Feel halfway due a miracle
A room to view reciprocal
With every heartbeat critical to mythical pursuit
At pinnacle a river wild runs through
My inner child
A smile resumes
Eyes open wide
Baptised unto the ocean tide

While slew of opal skies comprise hospitable horizon
Deemed elliptical reprised
Of metaphysical design
From vital clues

On knife edge
I hereby pledge allegiance to the cause
And should I fall to my death

My heart shall press against my chest with no less blest than warmth

I cut to the chase
At a gluttonous pace
For the succulent taste
Was divine
Dined on remains of the day for entrée
Followed then with a stem of grape wine

Not since grade nine
Had I seen such rays shine
Having strayed from the pines
Mesmerised by blade shine
These concave lines gave rise to tell tale signs that I could be wavelike and scale great heights in liberated flight

On knife edge
I hereby pledge allegiance to the cause
And should I fall to my death
Then with final breath
Shall count my timely blessings for the prevalence of warmth
A sentiment I care to share with all
.
As seasons come to pass
I seldom change the base belief
That bleeds my arteries and veins
Through every largesse I bequeath
For every crested piece of me
Releases intravenously
To seek the beats that bid retreat
With fleet of feet and peaceably
Would gift the timepiece from my wrist
To those whose souls blow mine a kiss
My only wish
They one day make it tick
This way they need not miss a single trick

I’m a lion with a fiery mane
Star gazing when believed
Unchanging faith my favoured steed
I tell it straight through innate need
To escalate conveyer speed
To celebrate each freak unique
The dreamer dreams to feed the streams
Each piece of me I bleed
Redeems the essence convalescence needs to dress us each as masterpieces
.
No psalm to preach
Yet open palms
For in the name of my own father
Feel no need to bleed stigmata
Feel no need to play the martyr
.
At pinnacle a river wild runs through
My inner child
A smile resumes
Eyes open wide
Baptised unto the ocean tide
Defined anew

  1. “Would gift the timepiece from my wrist
To those whose souls blow mine a kiss”
Love this line and that glorious fact that even a stopped watch works twice a day, an encouraging line that no matter how broken we are, we still function to some extent.

Knives Edge was a gorgeous journey to listen to, really enjoyed this and how you weave a pattern with words 🌻
