I have come a long way
To be sat at this place
With a smile on my face
Once denied
Both shame and disgrace
Have attacked my fair grace
Neither one of them claimed my demise
.
I have come a long way
To be sat at this place
With the wide eyes
Of child once amazed
Devout in my faith
That this smile on my face
Is the one thing my life cannot change
.
Hate is ungrateful
Persuasion distasteful
Abrasive when chafing
Parading as playful
So frightful this trifle
I die every nightfall
Then wake to recital of angels
Unfazed by the grazes on knees
That persisted
Enlisting each tear I wept freely
For I had been true real and crystalline clear
And kept each for the sake of sincerely
Nearly didn’t make it
As my fears stripped me naked
While the years appeared faded
To my rear
However I ventured with brave
Famed a sense of adventure
And made my way here
.
I have come a long way
To be sat at this place
With a smile on my face
Once denied
Both shame and disgrace
Have attacked my fair grace
Neither one of them claimed my demise
.
I have come a long way
To be sat at this place
With the wide eyes
Of child once amazed
Devout in my faith
That this smile on my face
Is the one thing my life cannot change
.
Maybe the fight had already been won
Victory sighted
All rivals succumbed
Out for the count
With the crowd on their feet
In with a shout
I felt proud to compete
Living out loud
Free of boundaries seen to encumber my wonder
With grounds to retreat
Thunder no longer seemed bound to impede
Lightning invited no grinding of teeth
Earth wind and fire
Who’d been known to conspire
Were now shown to inspire to astounding degree
Building high rise with the sight life enabled
Tasting the skies like the Tower of Babel
Cards on the table and heart on lapel
Felt less unstable when halfway to hell
Calmer than Dahmer when piercing through armour
Keener than Gein and some way less extreme
More handsome than Manson when holding to ransom
Less turn off than Wuornos beg pardon Aileen
Versing no curse less to edge to reversing
Impending return as a blessing or three
.
I have come a long way
To be sat at this place
With a smile on my face
Once denied
Both shame and disgrace
Have attacked my fair grace
Neither one of them claimed my demise
.
I have come a long way
To be sat at this place
With the wide eyes
Of child once amazed
Devout in my faith
That the eyes on my face
Once again are unbounding of range
.
Limits are there to be shattered emphatically
Edges are meant to be bent out of shape
Not every venture need tremor theatrically
Such would depend on the dreams that we chase
Friendships unending are smiles to dress sweetly
Lending to air miles when venturing freely
Tending to gardens our hearts feel less hardened
For each beat imparted uniquely
.
I have come a long way
To be sat at this place
With a smile on my face
Once denied
Both shame and disgrace
Have attacked my fair grace
Neither one of them claimed my demise
.
I have come a long way
To be sat at this place
With the grace of a swan in full song
No disgrace giving chase
As I’m setting the pace
With a smile on my face
A foot long
.
I have come a long way
To be sat here this day
Feel enraptured to state
I feel free
The only chains left
Are the daisies caressing the blessèd earth bloomed
At my feet
.
Cards on the table
All in before flop
Playing for chance
Where I’ll dance till I drop
Building high rise with the sight life enables
Tasting the skies like the Tower of Babel
Calmer than Dahmer when piercing through armour
Keener than Gein and some way less extreme
More handsome than Manson when holding to ransom
Less turn off than Wuornos beg pardon Aileen
Edges are hedge mazes waiting for pruning
Fate more sedate as I break its illusion
Making a date with creative solutions
To take the most jubilant leap
Deep in the woods
Is a studious tree
I have come a long way
To perceive
With a smile on my face
Galvanised as I brace
The most youthful awakening breeze
Through the wide eyes of changeling
Seen
Seen
Seen
.

    1. I absolutely adore that you spotted “Mmm-hmm” lurking in the undergrowth Mouse. A tiny little subtle addition to add to the fun of the piece.

“Calmer than Dahmer when piercing through armour
Keener than Gein and some way less extreme
More handsome than Manson when holding to ransom
Less turn off than Wuornos, beg pardon Aileen”

I totally had you in mind when reciting the above lines. Thought it would give you a giggle.
