my heart is an emblem of all that i am
every ventricle blushed with the soul of romance
wide open when hopeful
most vocal unspoken
a token of all that i am
.
my heart is an emblem of all that i am
every ventricle blushed with the soul of romance
wide open when broken
most vocal unspoken
a token of all that i am
.
i wear it with pride upon chest
it is all my attire when undressed
no emotion remains unexpressed
joy or pain—either way i am blessed
it is all of the things i know best
in the autumn it sings
in midwinter attests—to the whereabouts of spring
wherein dead leaves refresh
and the blessed wheat to best reap and thresh
.
my heart is an emblem of all that i am
every ventricle blushed with the soul of romance
wide open when hopeful
most vocal unspoken
a token of all that i am
.
my heart is an emblem of all that i am
every ventricle blushed with the soul of romance
wide open when hopeful
most vocal unspoken
a token of all that i am
(i am)
.
my heart is an emblem of all of me—calling
to all who afford it to beat and cease stalling
sometimes it is glass
others bursts into flame
and i thirst for the days when my veins are ablaze
can only love hard
in the softest refrain
surrounded by hearts of corroborative twain
nevermore gainly than when it is seen
with no air to concede of its grace
(i am)
with eyes open wide—it confides
of the reason i cry every time seasons change
to release all the teardrops estranged
my entire adult life as i grew more endangered
fell to the wayside and felt like a stranger
came to fresh faced like a baby in manger
and famed my divine reconception
(i am)
.
my heartstrings were frayed
amidst coarse enfilade
pulled in every which way and direction
twisted and tangled
hamfisted and mangled
yet angled towards sheer reflection
man made the organ i wear upon chest
an object of mortal affection
yet beneath—in its wake
lies a portal to some place
way deeper than most care to mention
.
a second brain exists within
less anal in retention
with the heart of a brave
i feel charmed to embrace
the birthplace of more innate connection
one celebratory of flaws and imperfection
migratory no more
for it feels cherished and adored
in pride of place—when wide awake
in safest keep—when deep asleep
the drapery of seamless dreams
(i am)
that feed through intravenous means
(i am)
.
ever bold with the lacquer of sheen
once untold in belief
long annulled—reenacting the scene
one can actually breathe when they’re seen and believed
when the chill of the breeze need not fracture serene
when the flame is ablaze
in each neighbouring vein
on parade—in persuasion unique
should this heartbeat of mine then conspire to grow weak
i know well to rely on the science of sleep
(i am)
the science of sleep
(i am)
the science of sleep
should this heartbeat of mine then conspire to grow weak
i know well to rely on the science of sleep
.

every ventricle blushed with the soul of romance
wide open when broken
most vocal unspoken
a token of all that i am
