This arrangement of Stairwell pays homage to Knock Me Down by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Listen to Stairwell by Richard Charles Stevens (Knock Up Suite)
knew the stairwell
due to fare well
.
hopscotch
off the stopwatch
a great many would deem hogwash
yet it set a top notch scene
at the ravine
she was dressed in evergreen
such blessèd sight i’d never seen
arrested eyes were mine
as i attested to each breath less deep
.
my heart it beat so fast
the artist in me started weeping
suggesting we should make a date with destiny and keep it
childlike at the streams
a minor trail hike in our dreams
where we scale heights so seldom seen
much less believed
.
i met her on the upstair
halfway tween the here and there
forget how i got up there
neither do i really care
for ne’er had a black eagle dared
to soar the skies and prize the air
with enterprise and debonair
the likes of which we shared
.
shyly i advanced
through whirling sprawl of prying eyes
searching for a diamond midst horizon of disguises
enterprising solely to console my inner sight
for underneath one solitary cloud hid silver lining
.
shooting stars colliding as they glide a timeless zipline with the line of sight that only love proposes to inscribe
a brace of thoughtful rovers on set course for supernova
exploding into new star borne of infinite design
the signature of time and space would fade away the one fine day
that two once famed paraded single file yet side by side
.
i met her on the upstair
halfway tween the here and there
forget how i got up there
neither do i really care
for ne’er had a black eagle dared
to soar the skies and prize the air
with enterprise and debonair
the likes of which we shared
.
took leave of our senses
to drench in the feeling
dig trenches so deep they led directly to the healing
indeed i have never been halfway so keen revealing
all of me there’s ever been
one vintage love in evergreen
a date with fate
though less extreme
forever wed to destiny
.
i met her on the upstair
halfway tween the here and there
forget how i got up there
neither do i really care
for ne’er had a black eagle dared
to soar the skies and prize the air
with enterprise and debonair

a brace of thoughtful rovers on set course for supernova
exploding into new star borne of infinite design
.
climbing vines to get high
i forget why i felt beaten
each defeat offset by every sweet feeling repeating
better yet in retrospect
i felt each pain to gain the edge
that led me so directly to the treasure i’d been seeking
.
the signature of time and space would fade away the one fine day
that two once famed paraded single file yet side by side
.
the daylight in our pale night blazed a trail
to where prevailing pains give way to feelings some way less outrageously denied
.
every flamed vein blazing
interweaving
at some place it was claimed possessed no ceiling
the one place only angel eyes believe in
.
some place it was claimed possessed no ceiling
.
