Goblin “Profondo Rosso”

I am not alone here
In this place
Through the grey shroud of gravestones
I feel favoured by sustained tone
Of the souls that once became known
Long forbade
Decayed
Of mortal woe obeyed

The painted clay upon my bones
Quite plainly
Falls away
Beneath the kindly Raven’s gaze
I marvel as the corvids sway
My morbid thoughts
Quite plainly
Fall away
Within this place
The violin plays
Changeless ode
Its haunting serenade
Cascades
A waterfall of stainless tone
The painted clay upon my ageless bones
Quite plainly
Falls away

I am not alone here
In this place
Beneath the shade of frozen yesterdays
That thaw
For the sake of the leaves
Adored by the bare naked trees
The snowflakes persuade each to breathe
Midwinter not nearly so bleak
As the leaves crunch beneath my bare feet
I am not cold here
No chill be retold here
Indeed, I feel blithe and carefree
In delight
At desirable ease

The painted clay upon my bones
Quite plainly
Falls away
Parading flowers grown
Through all four seasons
Blooming wild and free
Unceasing
Periodic not when breathing
Fresh clean air of highland creek
Indeed, would not feel right to speak
For silence lends to chorus sweet
For sightless souls within my keep
Through eyes revived anew
Do see

Beneath the shade
Of the most agèd tree
I can quite plainly be
Fall away into We
Beneath the kindly Raven’s gaze
The children can politely play
The kind of games
That young minds play
To dance each night and pass the days
The painted clay upon my bones
Quite plainly
Falls away
While flowers throne delightful spray
The kingdom of almighty brave
Reminds me I am not alone
If only
In this place
One not nearly all that far away

  1. Reading this I’m thrown into historic Nunhead cemetery. Walking, stroking the top of long forgotten graves and peering into the cracked show-off mausoleums. Feeling calm and content 🌹
