Frédéric Chopin “Grande valse brillante in E-flat major, Op. 18”

the lark and the owl
perched upon low hanging bough
side by side
while break of day awakened night

whence fierce gale came
didst not affright
were disinclined
to allocate the spotlight
light and shade collaborating
one with song to sing
on highest wing
the other listening intently
wide eyes fascinating
keen of sentry
while scent’d breeze
gently teas’d the leaves
with splendid ease
whispering of years long pass’d
that ventur’d into centuries

what is reflection
if not a collection of memories vying for attention
sun and moon endlessly tending to wounds with momentous abiding affection
how much discourse need we lend to convention
with thoughts seldom warranting mention
sieving through all of the faces adorned
willing fall from the grace of ascension

when fierce gales come
we ill prepare
are disposses’d the will to share
expensive stare
immense in glare
yet neither here nor there declar’d
from firmest base comes farthest leap
both wide awake and fast asleep
take thine heart into thine palm
reflect upon a masterpiece
perch upon low hanging bough
side by side reprise the lark and owl
ne’er forsaken shade and light
break of day engaging night
tie a ribbon round the oldest oak
do so in plainest sight
find the peace to venture into centuries long pass’d
glance at thine reflection
and observe the masterpiece of sweet impression
speak the thoughts that warrant greatest mention
seek embrace within the grace of resonate ascension

and one more thing
with song to sing
on highest wing
listen most intently
for perch’d upon low hanging bough
the lark and owl comprise a timeless medley
