Bananarama Cruel Summer

You may very well already have an inkling that something wicked this way comes from Los Angeles. I may have given off the vaguest impression that I have been blown somewhat off my perch by the sheer magnitude of what is unfurling before my very eyes. I am now officially lost for words, a rarity for Keeper. I’m simply running out of superlatives to adequately convey how I’m feeling right now after day four of shooting for The Orphan Killer: Bound X Blood has wrapped.

Monumental, that’s as good a term as any to start with. Let me put it into perspective for y’all; thirty plus years I have donated gladly to watching horror films of all shapes and sizes. I’ve consumed my fair share of tough gristle during that time so I guess I’ve been due some prime rib. It pleases me infinitely to report that the succulent slab of veal on the platter before me currently has me salivating like a thirsty kestrel. I shit you not, I’m witnessing cruel history being made right here under these searing LA rays. We have a game-changer on our hands. That’s right Grueheads, we got ourselves a gusher.

Ordinarily with any genre effort it has around the first ten minutes to snag your attention and, should it fail in that time, then 85 minutes can feel like three hours. I despise nothing more than being afforded the chance to clock watch, pleading for the titles to roll. We don’t want that. After ten minutes here our pants will be around our ankles and we will be getting firmly spanked, of that I can absolutely assure y’all.

Matt has decided to take the road less traveled and shoot this beast himself without the meddling neutralization studio involvement invariably involves. The Red Epic Camera perched atop his shoulder is state-of-the-art and the quality of the capture far outstrips films made for many times the budget. I have say behind the viewfinder utterly transfixed and fascinated in viewing the fruits of his labor on the big screen. This is where the movie very much belongs.

Expect all manner of weird and wonderful characters second time out, this is no mere retread but instead a statement of intent with regards to just how wide The Orphan Killer is going to spread in the coming years. Matt has a vial of sickness he wishes to share and, when a man has a vision this clear, the whole free world will soon be knocking back this alloy fluid and yearning for more.

It is with the pride of Simba that I report that my first scenes have been shot and, moreover, I had the distinct honor of sharing frame with our majestic queen, Diane Foster. It is difficult to put into words what an awe inspiring pleasure and privilege that has been but, I can say one thing, vile sparks have been in full flight between our characters culminating in some pretty intense shit.

Being in that moment, standing alongside somebody who lights up the lens the way Our Lady does, is a most spiritual thing. She is breathtaking, truly, in every last frame. This is something I witnessed first hand on a photo shoot aboard Queen Mary, Long Beach. She ensnares us within her gaze effortlessly, then holds us right there in a state of euphoric paralysis. Keeper has been a very bad boy. I swam in those emerald ocular pools extracting all the dark energy required to bring forth my inner sleaze. I dug deep Grueheads, right down to my sphincter.

Tomorrow heralds our very first night shoot and this offers up a whole new level of savagery. As First Knight and Keeper of our Crimson Quill I shall continue to raise my machete and plunder the darkness alongside our King and Queen. We all want this so bad, we are foaming at the mouth for this shit and the real kicker is that I already know the impact this film will have when it arrives in early 2015. Prepare to be soundly slaughtered.
