Underneath the floorboards
In the clay betwixt my bones
Ten thousand warlords draw swords
Marching forth to fixed abode
The scripture shows these fissure zones
As mine alone to bear
Their final toll my bible oath
To idle tone’s declare

I wasn’t born to die alone
To be so cruelly snubbed
I wasn’t sworn to silence to defy such gruelling grudge
I wasn’t torn from grace to fall upon my knees in sludge
I didn’t choose to come all of this way to play the drudge
There comes a time in all our lives to say enough’s enough
And who’s to say that death possessed the tools to call my bluff

In the darkest recess of a mind maligned by fate
I listened most intently to the cries behind the grate

Come inside
Mute acolyte
Do trust us
There is ample light
To march with faceless Jacobites
To find your place in shade

Underneath the floorboards
In the clay betwixt my bones
Ten thousand warlords draw swords
Marching forth to fixed abode
The scripture shows these fissure zones
As mine alone to bear
Their final toll my bible oath
To idle tone’s declare

At ankle height
Of vile arrange
My pale white flesh be prised away
Bittersweet this serenade
Their industry
My tired tirade
I tried to fade from sight
Yet without let or hindrance failed
For something deep inside confided purpose to prevail

All surplus skin
I shed herein the chamber of assail
I raised my head and bled my skins
On course to walk more favoured trail
Forgave myself each indiscretion
Deemed of wealth my essence lessened
Learned a healthy lifelong lesson
Nevermore to graze
My flesh then bled of end note breath’s arrange

Underneath the floorboards
In the flowers of my bones
Ten thousand strong belief is bid residual enthrone
Empowered by the ebbs and flows
Of every treasured soul aglow
Their chiming toll my prideful oath
To higher grounds foreshown
Often
During twilight
I can hear my floorboards groan
Dramatically and actually that flatters me to never feel alone

I wasn’t born to die alone
To be so cruelly snubbed
I wasn’t sworn to silence to defy such gruelling grudge
I wasn’t torn from grace to fall upon my knees in sludge
I didn’t choose to come all of this way to play the drudge
There comes a time in all our lives to say enough’s enough
And who’s to say that death possessed the tools to call my bluff
